Valtrex Dosing

Always consult your dosage with your doctor.Valtrex tablets contain the active component called valaciclovir.

This medication is used for the treatment of genital herpes infection. Valtrex dosage may range from 500 mg to 1000 mg.

You should take Valtrex dosage exactly as your physician has prescribed.

Your physician or pharmacist should be able to tell you how many tablets to take at each Valtrex dosage, how many of this dose you should take in a day and when to take your dosage in a day.

The label found in the packaging would also indicate the similar information. If there is anything that you do not seem to understand, don’t hesitate to inquire with your physician.

Valtrex dosage may differ based on your medical history. Your doctor must help you decide on this.

If you have been suffered from herpes infection before, you must begin taking in Valtrex tablets as soon as possible if you feel like you are about to have another attack.

The usual dose must ideally begin just prior to or right after the foremost signs of herpes simplex virus infection become apparent.

If your doctor has prescribed you with 500 mg tablets for treating the herpes infection, the typical dose to take in is a single tablet, along with water two times a day.

If your physician has given you 500 mg Valtrex tablets in order to prevent the herpes infection from recurring in the future, the typical dose to take in is 500 mg twice every day.

Your physician may also suggest that you take this as a divided dose or 250mg, taken twice a day.

If you had previously experienced around 10 attacks in the entire year, your physician may prescribe you to take 1000mg of Valtrex taken once in a day in order to prevent recurrences from happening in the future.

If you forgot to take Valtrex, take it as soon as you recall it, then resume to taking it as you would usually do.

Do not however overdose in order to compensate for the missed dosage. If it is almost time for you to take your following dosage, skip the dose that you have missed and take the next as you are supposed to.

On the other hand, if you have taken too much of it, call your physician immediately as you may need immediate medical attention.

Keep Valtrex in cool dry place.Store Valtrex tablets in cool dry place where it would stay below 30 degrees C.

Keep them away with any another medicines and do not place them near the sink. Keep them in their packaging until such time that you will be taking them.

An ideal place to store your tablets is a locked cupboard which is at least one and a half meters above the ground.

Do not leave them on the window sills or inside your car. If you take the tablets out of their packaging, they may not be able to keep well.

If your physician has advised you to stop taking it or if the tablets have already passed their expiry date, inquire from your pharmacist on what to do with any of the left over.
